The Story Behind the Name

Born in Fès,

Youssra Nichane was born in Morocco, moved to Paris in 2009 then New York to study. Passionate about Moroccan jewelry since childhood, it was at Paris Fashion Week 2019 — wearing vintage pieces from her private collection — that designers stopped to ask where her jewelry was from. That moment became her calling.

Dihyan is named after Dihya, the celebrated Berber warrior queen — symbol of inner sovereignty, strength and feminine grace. Each piece is handcrafted by artisans in the ancient medina of Fès. Soraya Azzabi later joined as co-founder, elevating the maison to international stages.

The craftsmanship of Moroccan goldsmiths — passed down through generations in Fès, one of the oldest cities in Africa — lies at the heart of Dihyan. The brand works closely with local artisans and is committed to preserving this art for future generations.

A portion of every sale is donated to a collective of local women founded by the maison — teaching them the goldsmith's trade, traditionally dominated by men.
